Canada permanent residence waitlist: IRCC to publish monthly figures on active vs waitlisted PR applications

On July 21, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) began publishing monthly figures showing which portion of its permanent residence (PR) application inventory is being actively processed and which portion has been waitlisted for future processing. IRCC says the change responds to a mismatch between incoming applications and the number of admissions spaces available under the federal 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan. This is the first time the department has disclosed how many files are being set aside for later years.
