Main Duties

Geological Engineers perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Plan and coordinate geotechnical, geological, geophysical, and geohydrological investigations
  • Analyze geological data for mining, petroleum, civil engineering, and environmental projects
  • Prepare recommendations for foundation design, excavation, grouting, and erosion control
  • Assess slope stability, landslide risks, and seismic impacts
  • Conduct groundwater flow and contamination studies
  • Perform mining feasibility studies and ore reserve evaluations
  • Develop computer models and applications for geological analysis
  • Supervise engineers, technologists, and technical staff
