Main Duties

Drafting Technologists and Technicians perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Develop engineering and architectural drawings from technical concepts
  • Create BIM models for buildings, infrastructure, and engineering systems
  • Operate CAD/CADD workstations and drafting software
  • Prepare documentation packages and detailed drawing sets
  • Verify designs against specifications and standards
  • Produce technical reports, tender documents, and material estimates
  • Estimate construction costs and required materials
  • Supervise drafting teams and coordinate project documentation
  • Produce plans, diagrams, and layouts from sketches and specifications
  • Support engineers, architects, and senior technologists in design development
