Main Duties
Industrial Instrument Technicians and Mechanics perform some or all of the following duties:
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
- Test flow, pressure, level, and temperature instruments
- Diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical, and electronic testing devices
- Repair or replace sensors, transmitters, and PLC-based control systems
- Calibrate instruments to manufacturer and regulatory standards
- Perform preventive maintenance on process-control systems
- Install and commission new instrumentation and automation systems
- Troubleshoot control systems in industrial environments
- Advise plant operators on system performance and improvements
