Main Duties

Licensed Practical Nurses perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Provide nursing services within defined scope of practice
  • Conduct patient assessments and implement care plans
  • Take vital signs and apply aseptic techniques
  • Monitor infection control procedures
  • Administer medications and document therapeutic effects
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Monitor respiratory and intravenous therapy
  • Evaluate patient progress and collaborate with healthcare teams
  • Provide health education to patients and families
  • Prepare patients for surgery and assist surgical teams during procedures
  • Monitor patient status during surgical procedures
  • Clean and sterilize operating rooms and instruments
