Medical Laboratory Technologists perform some or all of the following duties:
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Conduct and interpret chemical analyses of blood, urine, and other body fluids
- Examine blood cells and tissues for physiological and pathological conditions
- Prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination
- Perform and interpret blood group and compatibility testing
- Validate and document laboratory results
- Establish specimen analysis procedures
- Conduct quality control assessments
- Supervise laboratory technical staff
- Assist pathologists during autopsies
