Medical Laboratory Technologists perform some or all of the following duties:

• Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment
• Conduct and interpret chemical analyses of blood, urine, and other body fluids
• Examine blood cells and tissues for physiological and pathological conditions
• Prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination
• Perform and interpret blood group and compatibility testing
• Validate and document laboratory results
• Establish specimen analysis procedures
• Conduct quality control assessments
• Supervise laboratory technical staff
• Assist pathologists during autopsies

• Completion of a two- or three-year college program in medical laboratory technology is required.
• Supervised practical training may be required.
