Main Duties

Medical Radiation Technologists perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Operate X-ray, CT, fluoroscopic, mammography, and MRI equipment
  • Position patients and apply radiation safety protocols
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures and ensure image quality
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals (nuclear medicine)
  • Operate gamma cameras and radiation detection equipment
  • Administer prescribed radiation treatments using linear accelerators
  • Assist in treatment planning for oncology patients
  • Monitor patient condition during imaging and therapy procedures
  • Conduct quality control and equipment calibration checks
  • Maintain patient records and imaging documentation
