Main Duties

Cardiology Technologists and Electrophysiological Diagnostic Technologists perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Operate ECG and cardiac monitoring equipment
  • Conduct stress tests and ambulatory cardiac monitoring
  • Analyze cardiac recordings and prepare preliminary reports
  • Assist in pacemaker testing, monitoring, and reprogramming
  • Operate EEG, EMG, and nerve conduction diagnostic equipment
  • Monitor electrical activity of the brain and nervous system
  • Identify and correct technical interferences during diagnostic procedures
  • Prepare technical reports for physicians
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment
  • Monitor patient condition during cardiovascular and neurological procedures
