Main Duties
Nurse Aides, Orderlies, and Patient Service Associates perform some or all of the following duties:
- Assist patients with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Document patient care activities and fluid intake/output
- Collect biological specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum
- Administer basic procedures under supervision within scope of training
- Provide emergency first aid where required
- Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers
- Maintain patient rooms, beds, and medical supplies
- Assist with medical equipment setup and maintenance
- Support patient mobility, exercise, and recreational activities
- Provide emotional support and assist in patient comfort and well-being
