Main Duties

Nurse Aides, Orderlies, and Patient Service Associates perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Assist patients with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
  • Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Document patient care activities and fluid intake/output
  • Collect biological specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum
  • Administer basic procedures under supervision within scope of training
  • Provide emergency first aid where required
  • Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers
  • Maintain patient rooms, beds, and medical supplies
  • Assist with medical equipment setup and maintenance
  • Support patient mobility, exercise, and recreational activities
  • Provide emotional support and assist in patient comfort and well-being
