Main Duties
Pharmacy Technical Assistants and Pharmacy Assistants perform some or all of the following duties:
- Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy
- Enter patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
- Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, and labeling medications
- Maintain and organize medication inventory and stock levels
- Compound oral solutions, ointments, creams, and other pharmaceutical preparations
- Process billing, insurance claims, and payment transactions
- Stock shelves and price pharmaceutical products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy work areas
- Assist customers with basic inquiries under pharmacist supervision
- Support workflow coordination within retail and hospital pharmacy settings
