Main Duties

Educational Counsellors perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Advise students on course selection, academic planning, and graduation requirements
  • Provide guidance on career exploration and vocational pathways
  • Assist students with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies
  • Coordinate co-op, internship, and school-to-work transition programs
  • Consult with teachers, parents, psychologists, and social workers regarding student needs
  • Administer and interpret aptitude, interest, and vocational assessments
  • Develop and deliver workshops on study skills, time management, and academic success
  • Provide information to prospective students on educational programs and admission requirements
  • Organize orientation programs and student support services
  • Coordinate employer recruitment and campus hiring events
  • Provide counselling on personal, social, and emotional challenges
  • Deliver crisis intervention and support services when required
  • Supervise peer counselling initiatives and student placements
  • May teach or facilitate courses related to career development or personal growth
