Main Duties

Career Development Practitioners and Career Counsellors perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Interview clients to assess employment history, skills, and career goals
  • Identify barriers to employment and develop action plans
  • Assist with resume writing, job applications, and interview preparation
  • Develop job readiness and job search strategies
  • Refer clients to training programs, financial aid, or rehabilitation services
  • Provide career transition support for unemployed or mid-career professionals
  • Collect and analyze labour market information and employment trends
  • Advise employers on workforce development and HR-related matters
  • Provide consulting services to community organizations and agencies
  • Administer aptitude, interest, and vocational assessments
  • Advocate for clients regarding employment rights and legislation
  • Arrange vocational rehabilitation and employment assessments
  • Support newcomer integration and employment settlement programs

Employment Requirements
