Main Duties

Patternmakers – Textile, Leather and Fur Products perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Develop and create master patterns for garments, footwear, and leather or fur products based on design specifications
  • Convert designers’ sketches and concepts into production-ready pattern templates
  • Draft, cut, and adjust patterns using paper, cardboard, or digital tools
  • Test patterns by producing sample garments or prototypes

  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and refine digital patterns
  • Ensure patterns meet technical, production, and quality standards
