Main Duties
Patternmakers – Textile, Leather and Fur Products perform some or all of the following duties:
- Develop and create master patterns for garments, footwear, and leather or fur products based on design specifications
- Convert designers’ sketches and concepts into production-ready pattern templates
- Draft, cut, and adjust patterns using paper, cardboard, or digital tools
- Test patterns by producing sample garments or prototypes
- Modify patterns to improve fit, efficiency, and production quality
- Collaborate with fashion designers, product developers, and garment technicians
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and refine digital patterns
- Ensure patterns meet technical, production, and quality standards
