Main Duties

Service station attendants perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Refuel vehicles and watercraft with gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuels such as EV charging, propane, or hydrogen
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance including checking oil levels, tire pressure, and windshield fluids
  • Clean windshields and windows for customers
  • Operate point-of-sale systems to process payments for fuel and retail items
  • Maintain cleanliness of fuel pumps, parking areas, and retail sections
  • Monitor fuel storage levels and report discrepancies to management
  • Assist with stocking shelves and maintaining inventory of automotive products
  • Provide customer service and assist travelers at service stations and truck stops
