Main Duties

Contractors and supervisors in machining and metal trades perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers involved in machining, metal forming, shaping, and erecting trades
  • Set up machines and equipment and troubleshoot CNC programs to ensure precision manufacturing
  • Requisition materials and supplies and resolve work-related issues to improve productivity and quality
  • Train workers and recommend hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and industrial regulations
  • Oversee high-precision fabrication processes using advanced machinery and automation systems
  • Manage workflow planning and operational efficiency within machine shops and fabrication units
  • For contractors: manage business operations, including bidding, project execution, and client relationships
