Main Duties

Contractors and supervisors of heavy equipment operator crews perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers operating cranes, drilling, paving, and heavy construction equipment
  • Establish operational methods and coordinate activities with project managers and other trades
  • Requisition materials and ensure all heavy machinery meets safety and emission standards
  • Train operators on advanced equipment technologies and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
  • Prepare production, safety, and equipment usage reports and recommend hiring or promotions
  • Oversee fleet operations including maintenance, utilization, and performance tracking
  • Manage large-scale infrastructure and resource extraction projects
  • Ensure efficient deployment of machinery in accordance with project timelines and environmental standards
