Main Duties
Contractors and supervisors of heavy equipment operator crews perform some or all of the following duties:
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers operating cranes, drilling, paving, and heavy construction equipment
- Establish operational methods and coordinate activities with project managers and other trades
- Requisition materials and ensure all heavy machinery meets safety and emission standards
- Train operators on advanced equipment technologies and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Prepare production, safety, and equipment usage reports and recommend hiring or promotions
- Oversee fleet operations including maintenance, utilization, and performance tracking
- Manage large-scale infrastructure and resource extraction projects
- Ensure efficient deployment of machinery in accordance with project timelines and environmental standards
