Main Duties
Telecommunications equipment installation and cable television service technicians perform some or all of the following duties:
- Install, arrange, remove, and maintain telecommunications equipment in residential and commercial settings
- Pull and terminate internal wiring such as Ethernet, coaxial, and fiber optic cables
- Install outlets, connection points, and network hardware within buildings
- Configure and test internet, digital television, and phone systems for optimal performance
- Use signal meters, voltmeters, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair faults
- Provide technical support and explain system usage to customers
- Document installation details, signal readings, and materials used in service reports
- Ensure proper functioning of communication systems and customer satisfaction
