Main Duties

Telecommunications equipment installation and cable television service technicians perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Install, arrange, remove, and maintain telecommunications equipment in residential and commercial settings
  • Pull and terminate internal wiring such as Ethernet, coaxial, and fiber optic cables
  • Install outlets, connection points, and network hardware within buildings
  • Configure and test internet, digital television, and phone systems for optimal performance
  • Use signal meters, voltmeters, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair faults
  • Provide technical support and explain system usage to customers
  • Document installation details, signal readings, and materials used in service reports
  • Ensure proper functioning of communication systems and customer satisfaction
