Main Duties
Gas fitters perform some or all of the following duties:
- Study drawings and specifications to determine the layout of gas lines and installation materials
- Install and maintain gas meters, regulators, and piping systems in residential and industrial settings
- Service gas heating units, burners, valves, and automatic control systems
- Test gas lines and connections for leaks using digital detection devices and pressure gauges
- Ensure safe operation of gas systems and compliance with national safety standards
- Advise clients on proper maintenance, usage, and safety procedures for gas appliances
- Convert appliances and vehicles to operate on natural gas
- Work with modern systems including renewable natural gas (RNG) integration and smart gas monitoring devices
Employment Requirements
