Main Duties
Insulators perform some or all of the following duties:
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements and select appropriate materials
- Measure, cut, and apply insulating materials such as fibreglass, mineral wool, and foam
- Install insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, or taping techniques
- Fit insulation around obstructions and within complex structures such as piping systems and wall cavities
- Install vapour barriers and firestopping materials to ensure compliance with building and fire safety codes
- Remove hazardous insulation materials such as asbestos following strict health and safety protocols
- Ensure energy efficiency and thermal protection in residential, commercial, and industrial systems
- Work with modern insulation technologies including eco-friendly materials and thermal scanning tools
Employment Requirements
