Main Duties
Heavy-duty equipment mechanics perform some or all of the following duties:
- Diagnose faults and malfunctions using computerized diagnostic equipment
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts and components using specialized tools and heavy rigging equipment
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and servicing heavy machinery
- Inspect and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Service attachments such as blades, ploughs, winches, and harvesting equipment
- Work with diesel engines, emission-control systems, and advanced onboard electronics
- Ensure safety compliance and proper functioning of all heavy equipment systems
Employment Requirements
