Main Duties

Machine fitters perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to determine assembly sequences
  • Fit and assemble prefabricated metal parts to build heavy industrial machinery
  • Install components such as gears, pumps, motors, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Align and position subassemblies using lifting and transporting equipment such as cranes
  • Inspect finished assemblies using digital measuring tools to ensure precision and quality
  • Test assembled machinery to ensure proper functioning and performance
  • Perform adjustments and modifications to meet technical specifications
  • Maintain safety standards and comply with industrial regulations
