Main Duties

Crane operators perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Inspect cranes and calculate load weights and lifting capacities before operations
  • Operate tower, mobile, and specialized cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials
  • Coordinate with ground crews using hand signals or radio communication for precise load placement
  • Monitor wind speed, load sensors, and safety systems during operations
  • Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs
  • Follow strict safety protocols to prevent accidents on construction and industrial sites
  • Use advanced lift-planning software and digital tools for complex operations
  • Respond quickly to emergencies and hazardous site conditions
