Main Duties

Plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Read blueprints and determine wall and ceiling layouts and material requirements
  • Install metal stud framing, laths, and furring for wall and ceiling systems
  • Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets on walls and ceilings
  • Secure drywall panels to studs using nails, screws, or adhesives
  • Install corner beads and protective edges for structural durability
  • Fill joints, holes, and cracks using joint compounds and finishing tools
  • Apply tape over joints and embed into compound for reinforcement
  • Sand and finish surfaces to achieve smooth, paint-ready results
  • Install suspended ceiling systems and acoustic panels
  • Apply plaster, stucco, and decorative finishes to interior and exterior surfaces

Employment Requirements
