Main Duties

Glaziers perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine glass type, thickness, and installation methods
  • Measure, mark, and cut glass using hand tools or computerized cutting machines
  • Tint glass and create patterns through etching, sandblasting, or decorative painting
  • Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolding and rigging systems for high-rise installations
  • Position and secure glass panes using clips, mouldings, and specialized fastening systems
  • Install prefabricated glass units, mirrors, and architectural glass structures
  • Fabricate and attach aluminum or metal framing systems for curtain walls and storefronts
  • Install skylights, aquariums, showcases, and stained glass structures
  • Repair windows, replace damaged glass, and maintain building envelope integrity
  • Install and service commercial aluminum doors and glazing systems

Employment Requirements
