Main Duties
Pest controllers and fumigators perform some or all of the following duties:
- Inspect buildings and surrounding areas to detect pest infestations
- Identify pest types and determine appropriate treatment methods
- Prepare and apply chemical treatments using sprayers or fumigation equipment
- Perform structural fumigation for severe infestations
- Set traps to capture nuisance animals such as rodents or wildlife
- Install barriers such as netting or sealing systems to prevent pest entry
- Clean and sanitize infested areas using specialized equipment
- Provide cost estimates and treatment plans to clients
- Advise clients on preventive measures and sanitation practices
- Maintain records of chemical usage in compliance with regulations
