Main Duties

Air transport ramp attendants perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Load and unload baggage, cargo, and air mail from aircraft
  • Operate ground support equipment such as belt loaders and pushback tugs
  • Direct aircraft to and from gate positions using hand signals
  • Position stairs, jet bridges, and service equipment for aircraft
  • Perform safety checks and inspect aircraft for damage or leaks
  • Assist with aircraft de-icing operations during winter conditions
  • Clean aircraft interiors and restock cabin supplies
  • Maintain radio communication with flight crews and ground control
  • Ensure timely turnaround of aircraft operations
  • Follow strict airport safety and security procedures

Employment Requirements
