Automotive and heavy truck parts installers and servicers perform some or all of the following duties:

• Install and replace vehicle components such as windshields, mufflers, exhaust systems, radiators, and shock absorbers
• Repair, mount, and balance tires for passenger vehicles and heavy trucks
• Perform wheel alignments using computerized equipment
• Inspect and test vehicle systems including brakes, exhaust, and cooling systems
• Perform minor maintenance such as oil changes and lubrication
• Assist mechanics in more complex vehicle and heavy equipment repairs
• Calibrate ADAS systems integrated into windshields after installation
• Maintain service records and provide cost estimates to customers
• Handle heavy equipment tires and specialized tools
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations

These are the typical employment requirements and certifications required in Canada:

• Completion of secondary school is required
• Several months of on-the-job training provided
