Main Duties
Public works maintenance equipment operators perform some or all of the following duties:
- Operate equipment such as street sweepers, snowplows, and garbage trucks
- Collect and transport waste and recyclable materials
- Clear snow and ice using plows, blowers, and salt/sand spreaders
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Use GPS and routing systems to optimize operations
- Monitor and record material usage such as salt and sand
- Maintain public infrastructure such as roads and sidewalks
- Work during emergency weather conditions
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Employment Requirements
