Main Duties

Material Handlers perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Load and unload products and materials from trucks, railway cars, and loading docks
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to transport goods
  • Sort, pack, and unpack materials and products
  • Assist in inventory management by counting, weighing, and organizing stock
  • Handle bulk or liquid materials using hoses and pipelines
  • Use handheld scanners to track inventory and update warehouse systems
  • Fill orders and prepare goods for shipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas
  • Follow safety procedures when handling hazardous or heavy materials
