Main Duties

Oil and gas well drillers, servicers, testers and related workers perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Direct rig crews in setting up drilling rigs and operating drilling and hoisting equipment
  • Operate controls of drilling machinery to drill, complete, or service oil and gas wells
  • Drive wireline and service trucks to well sites and assemble testing equipment
  • Conduct well testing and logging operations using specialized tools and recording devices
  • Collect and interpret subsurface data using computerized monitoring systems
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and environmental standards on-site
  • Train and supervise rig crew members and coordinate operational activities
  • Maintain detailed records of drilling, servicing, and testing operations
  • Perform equipment inspections and ensure machinery is maintained properly
