Main Duties
Underground mine service and support workers perform some or all of the following duties:
- Install and extend ventilation ducts, air and water pipes in underground mining areas
- Install and maintain ground support systems including rock bolts, mesh, and timber supports
- Operate utility vehicles and small machinery to transport materials underground
- Assist blasters by transporting explosives and clearing debris after blasting operations
- Maintain underground roadways, tracks, and drainage systems
- Support emergency response systems including fire protection and safety procedures
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance of service equipment
- Identify and report safety hazards and ensure compliance with mine safety regulations
- Assist production teams in maintaining safe and efficient mining operations
