Main Duties
Oil and gas well drilling and related workers and services operators perform some or all of the following duties:
- Assist in drilling operations by aligning and handling drill pipes and maintaining drilling fluid systems
- Operate and maintain diesel engines, pumps, and mechanical systems on drilling rigs
- Drive and operate specialized well service trucks and equipment
- Perform well stimulation tasks such as pumping chemicals, cement, or sand into wells
- Monitor gauges and control systems to regulate pressure, flow rates, and operational efficiency
- Assist in rig setup and dismantling activities
- Supervise and support floorhands and laborers during drilling and servicing operations
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and environmental regulations
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure operational safety
