Main Duties

Logging and forestry labourers perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Attach cables (chokers) to felled logs for transportation to loading areas
  • Assist in clearing brush, debris, and trails to maintain safe logging operations
  • Support sorting, piling, and loading logs onto trucks or into water transport systems
  • Clean and maintain logging tools, chain saws, and camp equipment
  • Assist in minor repairs of forestry equipment and machinery
  • Participate in tree planting, fertilizing, and reforestation activities
  • Monitor sites for fire hazards and assist in forest fire prevention and suppression
  • Work closely with machine operators and forestry teams in woodland operations
  • Follow environmental and safety regulations in forestry activities
