Main Duties

Glass forming and finishing machine operators and glass cutters perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Operate machinery to mix raw materials and melt glass in high-temperature furnaces
  • Set up and adjust automated feeding and forming machines to shape molten glass into products
  • Operate machines to grind, drill, polish, bevel, or finish glass products to required specifications
  • Cut glass manually or using CNC and automated glass-cutting machines
  • Monitor gauges, sensors, and digital control panels to ensure optimal processing conditions
  • Inspect finished products visually and with precision instruments to ensure quality standards
  • Handle glass safely using lifting equipment and follow strict safety procedures
  • Maintain production logs and report equipment issues or defects
