Main Duties
Inspectors and testers in mineral and metal processing perform some or all of the following duties:
- Inspect mineral ore, metal, cement, glass, and clay products at various stages of processing
- Collect samples of materials and finished products for laboratory testing
- Test products for strength, density, durability, and chemical composition using specialized equipment
- Operate testing instruments such as hardness testers, spectrometers, and gauges
