Main Duties

Photographic and film processors perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Operate equipment to develop photographic negatives, slides, and motion picture film
  • Print black-and-white and color photographs using automated or manual printing systems
  • Use photographic enlargers to produce custom prints and enlargements
  • Prepare and mix chemical solutions required for film developing and fixing processes
  • Inspect processed images and film for defects, color accuracy, and sharpness
  • Retouch negatives and images to correct imperfections and enhance quality
  • Maintain and calibrate photographic processing equipment
  • Ensure compliance with quality control standards and production specifications
  • Convert analog film into digital formats using specialized scanning and imaging systems
  • Use digital and AI-assisted tools for color correction and image enhancement
