Main Duties
Labourers in mineral and metal processing perform some or all of the following duties:
- Transport raw materials, finished products, and scrap materials throughout the plant using manual handling or powered equipment
- Feed conveyors, crushers, and other machinery to assist production processes
- Open valves, start pumps, and assist machine operators in daily operations
- Clean work areas, machinery, and equipment to maintain safe production environments
- Sort, stack, bundle, and stamp finished metal or mineral products
- Load and unload materials from trucks, containers, or production lines
- Assist in monitoring basic equipment functions and reporting malfunctions
- Follow strict safety procedures in industrial environments
